IDEC2017イスラエル/Israel ⑪ エコロジカルな温室/Ecological Green House

The IDEC organized visiting interesting places not only democratic schools but also some interesting educational programme. The Ecological Green House in a Kibbutz has a educational programme for teenagers. The director of the place loves teenagers a lot. He offers opportunities to have try and errors in the field of agriculture. For example, a group of high school students studied the structure of shark skin to make good material for pipes of providing water and fertilizer to grow the plants. They have the problem of bacteria growing inside of such pipes. So, the students studied the structure of shark skin and made very smooth surface pipes.
今回のIDECではデモクラティックスクールなどの現場訪問の企画の中にスクール以外の興味深い子どもの学びのプロジェクトが入っていました。「エコロジカルな温室」というキブツのプロジェクトでは主に高校年齢の子どもたちが農業や生物関係の技術開発で試行錯誤ができるような企画を紹介してくれました。水耕栽培のパイプは水や肥料を供給しますが、内側にバクテリアなどが繁殖しやすい問題があります。その問題を解決する表面を持つパイプ素材の開発のためにバイオミミクリの発想からサメの皮膚を研究して、バクテリアなどが繁殖しにくいパイプ素材の開発に成功したそうです。
