世界デモクラシーフォーラム⑦ /World Forum for Democracy7

大会では「自由な時間～一日何もしないで過ごす～」というドイツの映像作家のデモクラティックスクールについてのドキュメンタリー映画が招待上映をされていました。今年の夏にシューレ大学で上映して好評を博した作品です。上映後に監督と、映画にも出てきたドイツの子どもたちも一緒に観客との質疑応答も行いました。映画の中ではイスラエルのデモクラティックスクールが取り上げられており、そのことについてパレスティナにもデモクラティックスクールはあるのか、イスラエルのデモクラティックスクールにパレスティナの子どもは通えるのかという質問に始まり、ドイツではデモクラティックスクールに通う子供の親は、あまりにラディカルな教育に理解が追い付かないことはなにのか、などの質問がありました。子どもたちやスタッフたちが一生懸命応え、時間を超過して、守衛さんに追い出される夜遅くまでセッションは続きました。
During the conference, a German documentary film sbout democratic education titled "Frei Stunde --- Doing Nothing All Day" was showed. After the show, the director, students and staff of German democratic schools answered to the participants. The first question was about Plestinian and Israeli democratic schools. Then some questions are about parents understanding of democratic education. We discussed a lot till the gourdman pushed us to out of the room because of the closing time of the night.

ヤコブさんが基調講演で公立の学校でも教育活動の20%を子どもと大人が一緒に企画して一緒に実施してはどうか。子ども中心の企画にしたらどうかという提案をしました。20％という数字は実行が不可能でなく、また活動が意味のある内容になるというところから考えられたものです。公立学校がこの提案を採用した時に参考になるのはデモクラティックスクール・フリースクールの実践です。そこからデモクラティックスクールへの関心も高まっていくことが考えられます。
In his keynote speech, Yaacov proposed for state schools to conduct child-centered activities in which children and adults do together.He proposed 20% of state school activities should be such child-centered one. It's real number they can do. It's meaningful number for the whole school,too. When a school adopts this proposal, this school may refer to activities of democratic school as a reference. More attention may be paid to democratic schools.

この大会には若者が自分の人生を語るという時間があります。オランダのデモクラティックスクールを卒業して、現在、市議会議員としてもEUDEC(欧州デモクラティック教育コミュニティ)の若者メンバーとしても大活躍中のシモーヌさんが自分の経験を話しました。一般の学校に通って、勉強もまじめにしていたのですが、納得のいかない宿題に質問をするの、ちゃんと答えてもらえないなどの経験を経て、学校が休みになると嬉しい自分と、デモクラティックスクールに通っている弟が休みになると嘆いていることに直面して、ショックを受けたのだそうです。そこで、成績の良かったシモーヌさんですが、級友が辞めるのはもったいないし、将来が不利になると助言してきても、迷わずデモクラティックスクールに転向したことなど、丁寧にその時の気持ちがわかるように話していました。
In this forum, we have a session in which young people tell own life experience. Simone graduated from a Dutch democratic school and is a city council member.She was a good student at a state school, When she asked the reason why they have to do the homework, the teacher didn't explain. After that when the vacation time came, she felt very fine. On the contrary, her borother who was a student of a democratic school prefered going to schools than vacation.She was so shoked with this difference. So, she moved to the democratic school even though her friends advised her not to do so her future. Her story is very articulate and moving.

11月8日には19の分科会が開かれました。僕は第1分科会「新しい学校のやり方を改革する」での発言者でした。ボリビアの学校自治を基本的には全員が役員になりえる仕組みをとっている実践、パリのデモクラティックスクールの実践、アンドラの子ども参画を促進するカリキュラムの実践、それからイギリスの教育史の研究者、シューレ大学のスタッフをしているそして世界のデモクラティックスクールの研究者として僕が発言しました。2時間のセッションでしたが、5人の話は1時間ほどで、あとは会場の参加者との対話です。会場は分科会会場では一番大きい200人の部屋で8割ほどが埋まりました。質問で多かったのは、デモクラティックなやり方を自分の国ではどのように導入できるのかというものでした。デモクラティックエデュケーションに触れて、反発するとか懐疑のまなざしを向けるとかいう態度でなく、高い関心を持っている人ばかりで印象的でした。
On the second day of the forum, we had eighteen labs. I participated the first Lab "Reinventing School Governance" as a speaker. There are five speakers, three presentations and two discussants; the founder of Democracy in Practice in Bolivia, the Founder of French democratic school, the school inspector from Andorra, British historian of education and me. Half of the two hour session was by the speakers. In Another hour, participants of this Lab discussed. Many people asked how to introduce ideas of democratic education to their societies.

世界デモクラシーフォーラム③/The World Forum for Democracy

Formaly the world Forum for Democracy has started today. In the opening session, Prime Minister of Norway and French Minister of Education and science made a speach. Then I had the working lunch with my session members including Ramin who is a founder of School Dynamic in Paris. In the afternoon, Yaacov and the French mathmatician made keynotes. We also have another plenary speaches. Then Strasbourg Orchestra played very impressive music of Richart Schtraus. Though we had a welcome party it's so crowded and  no food. EUDEC people had a meeting then dinner together. I came back to the hotel nearly midnight.
正式に世界デモクラシーフォーラムが開会しました。オープニングではノルウェーの首相、フランスの文科大臣たちがスピーチをしました。昼には食事をとりながら明日一緒のセッションの人たちと打ち合わせをしました。その中の一人はパリのサドベリースクールのスタッフでした。午後の前半はフランスの高名な数学者とヤコブさんの基調講演です。後半はイギリス、スペイン、アフガニスタンから基調報告がありました。引き続きストラスブールオーケストラの演奏がありました。リヒャルトシュトラウスの変容の演奏は気持ちのこもった素晴らしい演奏でした。その後、歓迎の立食パーティーがありましたが、立錐の余地が無いような東京のラッシュアワーの後継の様相を呈していて、食べ物も運ばれてくる途中でトレーの上からとられてテーブルの上に着く前になくなってしまう状況で。ヤコブさんや僕は一口も食べることができない盛況ぶりでした。その後、EUDECの人たちでミーティングをして、外で食事をして帰りました。宿に着いたのは殆ど12時でした。

世界デモクラシーフォーラム②・World Forum for Democracy 2

正式には11月7日から大会は始まります。今日はEUDEC(欧州デモクラティック教育共同体)関係者たちとの打ち合わせです。この大会は欧州評議会の企画ですが、ストラスブール市も力を入れていて、市内のあちこちに大会の表示が見られます。写真に写っているのはこの分野の世界の第一人者のヤコブさんで、その後ろに世界デモクラシーフォーラムの広報ブースのテントがあります。昼食をヤコブさんと一緒にとって、ストラスブールの街を一緒に散歩しました。世界各地のフリースクールで代表の世代交代は簡単なことではないのですが、イスラエルではほとんどすべてのフリースクールで代表の交代をすでに経験しているとのことでした。うまくいっていることが多いのは、経済的な基盤がしっかりしているので、代表にかかる負担がほかの国のフリースクールよりは少ないことがあるのではないかとヤコブさんは言っていました。

The World Forum for Democracy will start tomorrow formally. Today we have an informal meeint of democratic education people.Everywhere in the city we see the signs of the forum. The man talking with cell phone is Yaacov and a tent of the forum is behind him. Yaacov and I had a nice luch together and took a nice walk in Strasbourg. There are so many lovely narrow strees here. During the walk, we talked a lot. Yaacov said the head teachers of almost all Israeli democratic school already changed from the founder head teacher. Usually it is a pretty big issue at the democratic schools. He said because almost all Israeli democratic schools are public funded to some extent, the head techers have less burden than not public funded democratic schools outside of Israel.

Council of Europe is an international organization in Europe to realise the peace of Europe. The head quater locates in Strasbourg in France. Council of Europe hosts the World Forum for Democracy in Strasbourg. The theme of this year is education. Many speakers are invited not only from European countries but also from outside of Europe, too.Ramin who is the founder of a democratic school in Paris will one of the speakers from Europe. Yaacov and I are speakers from outside of Europe. People are excited to make positive changes through this forum. Touch wood!

欧州評議会は欧州の平和の実現の為にフランスのストラスブールに設立された国際機関です。欧州評議会は毎年、世界デモクラシーフォーラムを開催してきました。今年のテーマは教育です。ヨーロッパ以外からも発言者が招聘されています。デモクラティック教育関係者ではパリでデモクラティックスクールを始めたラミンさんがヨーロッパからの発言します。ヨーロッパ以外ではイスラエルのヤコブさんと僕が話します。ヨーロッパでのデモクラティックエデュケーションについて何がしかの前進につながる変化をおこそうとEUDEC関係者をはじめ張り切っています。うまくいきますように！
